Hello NSE Families!
I hope this month's NSE Newsletter finds you all well. As we enter the final marking period of the 2023-2024 school year, we have many current and upcoming events, such as field trips, Unger Day (field day), PTO Fun Day, concerts, PROUD reward days, as well as end of year classroom events and activities. Several of our grade levels have already experienced their field trips thanks to the financial support of our PTO. In early April, our NSE Talent Show will be taking place. In May we will be sending two teams to the York County Envirothon Competition. We have a busy two months ahead.
A reminder that the speed limit around the building is 5 MPH. This is particularly important during drop off and pick up times and during the student day. As you are aware, the high school softball field is located behind the building. I have worked with the district's athletic director and the softball coach to create a plan to keep vehicles in appropriate locations. Please be aware that the road to the left when facing the school is a two-way route with cars both entering and leaving our facility.
Parents of students in grades 3, 4, and 5, please take a moment to read the PSSA section of this newsletter. The PSSAs are state and federally mandated assessments that we are required to give each school year. If you have any questions in regards to this requirement, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please take care and be well!
Mr. Chris Young

All families should have recieved information from the district related to the Solar Eclipse that will occur on Monday, April 8. DASD will maintain a normal schedule on this day.
We have had a generous donation of 400 glasses to our school. Each student will be given their own pair of glasses for the day. Teachers will be discussing safety procedures for this day during our dismissal time.
We encourage all families to speak with their students about safety protocols related to looking at the sun during an eclipse. We want all of our students to be safe during this time.
North Salem Elementary School Fine Arts Night will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024! The students have been working very hard in both art and music and will show off their work that evening. We will feature the artwork of North Salem Elementary students and music selections from some of our musicians. Be on the lookout for more information which will be sent out soon!
