I will explore ideas, plan my designs, create original art, reflect on my progress, and proudly share my work with others.
Welcome to our TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) open studio art classroom! Here, you are encouraged to take charge of your own artistic journey. As young artists, you will have the freedom to choose your own projects, materials, and methods of expression. With this creative freedom comes a set of responsibilities to ensure a productive and respectful studio environment for all:
Self-Direction and Planning: You will be responsible for planning your projects, setting goals, and managing your time effectively. Use the provided resources, including Eric Gibbons' 'Advanced Art Student's Workbook,' to organize and reflect on your work.
Respect for Materials and Space: Treat all materials, tools, and studio spaces with care. Ensure that you clean up after yourself and leave the studio ready for the next class.
Collaboration and Support: Engage respectfully with your peers. Offer constructive feedback during peer collaboration sessions, and be open to receiving feedback on your own work.
Personal Responsibility: Take ownership of your learning. Attend to teacher check-ins, assessments, and restorative practice circles with a positive attitude, ready to discuss your progress and challenges.
Skill Building and Experimentation: Participate actively in skill builders and challenges. Use these opportunities to explore new techniques and improve your artistic skills.
Documentation and Reflection: Maintain an up-to-date online portfolio using your iPad. Document your projects, process, and reflections regularly to track your growth as an artist.
Project Progress: Stay on top of your monthly project progress check-ins. Use these sessions to evaluate your work, set new goals, and celebrate your achievements.
By embracing these responsibilities, you will not only enhance your artistic skills but also develop valuable habits of self-discipline, creativity, and collaboration. Let's make this a year of growth, exploration, and artistic discovery!
