Perceive and analyze artistic work.
Students analyze ways that visual components and cultural associations suggested by images influence ideas, emotions, and actions.
Objective:
Students will analyze and discuss works of art using Visual Thinking Strategies to identify and explain how the Elements of Art (color, value, line, shape, form, space, pattern, and texture) are used by artists to communicate ideas, mood, and meaning, and will record their observations through guided sketchbook responses.
Space- the area around, in-between, or within objects.
BIG IDEA - Guiding Question
Space is the relationship between objects, the viewer, and the environment.
How can I use Space to map the distance between the places I lived and who I am today?
Value - how light or dark a color is.
BIG IDEA - Guiding Question
Value creates the contrast necessary to define light, depth, and drama.
How can I use value to bring focus to the most important memory of my past?
I will explore ideas, plan my designs, create original art, reflect on my progress, and proudly share my work with others.
