Perceive and analyze artistic work.
Students analyze ways that visual components and cultural associations suggested by images influence ideas, emotions, and actions.
Objective:
Students will analyze and discuss works of art using Visual Thinking Strategies to identify and explain how the Elements of Art (color, value, line, shape, form, space, pattern, and texture) are used by artists to communicate ideas, mood, and meaning, and will record their observations through guided sketchbook responses.
Form - an enclosed 3 dimensional, can be organic or geometric.
BIG IDEA - GUIDING QUESTION
Form is the physical bridge between an artist's vision and the viewer's reality.
How can I use form to hold the "weight" of the memories that have shaped me?
Texture - the surface quality that can be seen or felt.
BIG IDEA - GUIDING QUESTION
Texture creates sensory narratives and adds depth to the surface of the viewer's experiences.
How can I use texture to represent the layers of identity and history?
I will explore ideas, plan my designs, create original art, reflect on my progress, and proudly share my work with others.
