Perceive and analyze artistic work.
Students analyze ways that visual components and cultural associations suggested by images influence ideas, emotions, and actions.
Objective:
Students will analyze and discuss works of art using Visual Thinking Strategies to identify and explain how the Elements of Art (color, value, line, shape, form, space, pattern, and texture) are used by artists to communicate ideas, mood, and meaning, and will record their observations through guided sketchbook responses.
Line - the path of a moving point.
BIG IDEA - Guiding Questions
Line is the primary tool for defining direction, movement, and emotional intensity.
How can I use line to create a map of lines that define my personality?
Shape - an enclosed 2 dimensional space, can be organic or geometric.
BIG IDEA - Guiding Question
Shapes act as the building blocks of visual structure and complexity.
How can I use shape to build the symbolic building blocks of my own identity?
I will explore ideas, plan my designs, create original art, reflect on my progress, and proudly share my work with others.
