This week as part of personal development, we have content from Drugs Sense UK. This is the second part of content delivered to our students.

Safeguarding and inclusion
From the 2nd to 8th of May is Deaf awareness week. This is run annually by the UK Council on Deafness. This year the focus is on inclusion.
The aim of the campaign is to highlight the impact of hearing loss on everyday life and increase visibility and inclusion of Deaf people. Emphasising the importance of mental health, and empathising with underrepresented groups.
To support this across the DN Colleges Group we are taking the time to inform, inspire and empower our students with information and around this campaign.

At least 4.4 million people with hearing loss are of working age.
This is also a useful guide from the National Deaf Children's Society.

talking-to-your-deaf-friends-postcard.pdfThis is a great opportunity for us to all know and learn some British Sign Language (BSL). Here you'll find a video about how to sign greetings and manners in BSL.
Take some time to learn, practice and share with others at least two of the greetings shown.
You'll also find below a image to show how to sign letters of the alphabet in BSL which shows how to sign some words.
