Student Commission on Racial justice:
A national student-led project giving thousands of young people a voice on racial justice.
What is racial justice ?
The systematic fair treatment of people of all races, resulting in equitable opportunities and outcomes for all.
NEA (2021)
This week we are using our PDBA Scheme Of Learning to encourage our students to have their voices heard on a national level.
Your views and opinions matter and can help to shape and support local and national campaigns.
This campaign from the Student Commission has been created to give students an opportunity to provide a platform for collecting details on the experiences of racial justice.
DN Colleges Group is one of eleven Colleges to take part in this campaign.
The Student Commission have also created an animated video entitled 'It All Adds up' .
The aim of which is to portray:
Forms of racial inequality experienced by BAME young adults in the UK today
The negative effect of racial inequality on the lives of those young people
The responsibility and necessity for us all to take action
When watching the video consider and answer the three questions below:
What three vital signs on the characters Fit-Bit are depleted throughout the animation ?
What does silence on racism lead to ?
Following Donald Trump calling Covid-19 "Kung-flu", to what % did hate crime against Asian people rise ?
World Of Work
Throughout your time at College we will provide you with tools and resources to support your development and progression.
These may be something you can use today or in the future to help you make decisions. They can also be used to support and inform others.
This week we in the World Of Work we are using the tool called 'Animal Me'. This is an interactive way to assess and find out about the skills you have and the possible future job opportunities which could match to your skills and attributes.
Click on the My World of Work image to visit the page. You will be asked a range of questions.
What are your results ? Consider if these are a true representation of you?
You can share your results with others, review each others results. Do they match the personality of the other individual ?
Analyse the three words provided to describe you. What other three words would you chose to describe you and why would you chose these words?
