Transferring Emails & Google Drive files

120 days (4 months) after graduation, you will lose access to your Dominican student email account (@students.dominican.edu).

If you want to retain the information in that account, you can ONLY transfer your Dominican content to another email account that ends in .edu. For this reason, we highly recommend contacting the alumni office by email (alumni@dominican.edu) and requesting an @alumni.dominican.edu email account that you can keep for life.

The below Transfer of your content is a one-time transfer. We recommend transferring the emails to migrate all current and past emails and then set-up a forwarding email address within your student account to receive all future emails until your student account is deactivate

When conducting the transfer, you must use an internet browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari or Microsoft Edge) that is ONLY logged into your @students.dominican.edu account. The transfer will not work if the browser you are using is logged into other Gmail accounts (your alumni account or a personal @gmail.com account).

Can I transfer my Google Drive content to a personal Gmail account?

This is not recommended due to space. To transfer your Google Drive content to a personal gmail account, you must first download the google drive content from your student account to a local computer and then upload the content to your personal Gmail account. There is also the question of space for your personal Gmail account.

Personal (free) Gmail accounts are set at 15GB of space. Student Dominican Gmail accounts are set at 200GB of space. Alumni Dominican Gmail accounts are set at 200GB of space
