Is there a way to have private chats during a Google hangout meet?

We recommend Zoom if you need this functionality. Students who need to have private chats with instructors should contact their instructors directly through email.

If I share a video from my screen using Google Hangouts Meet, will the other participants in the meeting hear the audio?

If a person is  sharing their screen in Google Hangouts Meet and displaying a video, Google Meet will not share the computer audio. However, if you are running your Google Meet from a laptop, participants will hear the video audio as your laptop mic picks up the audio from your speakers. So, on a laptop it “should work”. Zoom does provide this feature by allowing the user to Share Computer Sound when using the share option. For more information, go to the Google Meet or Zoom pages of the Google Site.
