APPROACH
Theoretical/project-based
Through the empowerment of their creative language, in this course, the students design a textile and kitting collection that can represent and highlight their ideas for what refers to style and materials. The Textile lab 3 module allows the students to create, draw and set up a personal and original collection of textile samples that can be applied to fashion design projects, as purely aesthetic and artistic expressions in the field of "Fiber and Textile Art". The Knitwear 3 module, on the other hand, is focused on the design of an experimental knitwear collection with a tricot-couture feel through the application of the acquired technical and manual competencies (drawing of stitches, use of knitting and crochet needles, manual and industrial machines) as well as focused collaborations with selected companies in the relevant industry.
The programme grants 12 credits, divided as follows:
KNITWEAR 3: 6 CFA
TEXTILE LAB 3: 6 CFA
Successful students will be able to:
KNITWEAR 3:
Design and create prototypes for a knitwear fashion collection that reflect a personal idea
Manage all creative and technical phases
Supply all the elements for the visual communication of the project
Supply all the elements for the technical realisation of the project
TEXTILE LAB 3:
Design and prototype textile sample collections that reflect a personal idea and fit into the relevant industry (fashion or Fiber and Textile Art)
Translate a fashion concept into a textile collection or artistic concept with a series of textile objects that can be reproduced at an industrial level.
Manage all creative and technical phases
Supply all the elements for the technical realisation of the project
KNITWEAR 3
The students will design a mini fashion knitwear collection following the acquired method in all its steps, including: analysis of the reference market; definition of theme and concept; trend analysis, as well as of the collection lines and materials; definition of silhouettes, materials, and handling techniques; collection development, sketches, technical drawings; creation of prototypes and technical data sheets; targeted projects in collaboration with selected companies within the relevant industry.
TEXTILE LAB 3
The students will work on the project theme developing a method aimed at the creation of objects and textile samples to be used in the fashion or in Fiber and Textile Art. During the textile laboratory classes, the students will use different techniques for both textile construction and handling, and decoration and artisanal as well as digital printing.
This is a theoretical/project-based course.
Over the course, the students will carry out didactic activities that are functional to achieving the learning goals, that in both modules may include:
Front lectures
Development of individual projects
Individual study and research
Laboratories
Exercises and revisions
Individual sessions and tutoring
Field trips
Assessment criteria may include:
KNITWEAR 3: submission of research, projects or research work
TEXTILE LAB 3: submission of research, projects or research work
Further details on the specific tests will be given by the professor.
The final grade for this course will result from the weighted average of its modules.
