APPROACH
Theoretical/project-based
The goal of this course is to complement and further develop the skills acquired by the students in the previous semester in the field of knitwear. The Knitwear 2 module introduce the students to knitwear design, applying and developing the typical methods of the industry, checking use instruction and feasibility criteria, as well as analysing the market and connecting with relevant companies. The Draping and moulage 2 module introduces the students to industrial knitting techniques, analysing the use of yarns and the production of knitted textiles with the use of professional machines. Through focused projects in collaboration with companies, the experimentation with new industrial technologies allows the students to understand and read use instructions in order to create original stitches and manufacture knitted garments and accessories.
The programme grants 12 credits, divided as follows:
KNITWEAR 2: 6 CFA
DRAPING AND MOULAGE 2: 6 CFA
Successful students will be able to:
FASHION DESIGN 2:
Know and define a reference market
Consistently manage all the project phases
Develop a knitwear project based on defined themes
Create prototypes that are consistent with the project
DRAPING AND MOULAGE 2:
Independently manage all the prototypes development and experimentation phases according to the project
Define the technical aspects of the project
Supply all the elements for the technical realisation of the project
Create prototypes and technical data sheets
With reference to the project theme, and through front lectures, workshops, and specific revisions:
FASHION DESIGN 2: the students will research, interpret and define lines, yarns, materials and processing techniques of a knitwear project, that is collected and presented in a book complete with concept development, sketches, technical drawings, models and representation.
DRAPING AND MOULAGE 2: the students will learn traditional and technological industrial knitwear techniques to be used in the creation, development, and creation of personal and original prototypes, complete with comprehensive technical datasheets.
This is a theoretical/project based course.
Over the course, the students will carry out didactic activities that are functional to achieving the learning goals, that in both modules may include:
Front lectures
Development of individual projects
Individual study and research
Laboratories
Exercises and revisions
Individual sessions and tutoring
Field trips
Assessment criteria may include:
KNITWEAR 2: Submission of papers, projects and research work
DRAPING AND MOULAGE 2 : Submission of practical exercises and research work
Further details on the specific tests will be given by the professor.
The final grade for this course will result from the weighted average of its modules.
