To apply the principles and procedures of materials development by showcasing real-world language learning materials that reflect effective and learner-centered language instruction.
Instructions:
Form small groups of 3–4 members. Each group will select or create a real-world language learning material that exemplifies one or more principles or procedures of materials development.
Your chosen material must:
Be authentic or classroom-appropriate for language learning
Clearly reflect at least one key principle and follows the procedure in materials development
Include a brief written explanation of how the material applies the chosen principle/procedure
Be organized and ready for display
Set up your material in the designated gallery space in the classroom. This will serve as your “station” for the gallery walk.
As the gallery walk begins, you will rotate and visit each group’s station. Review their material, read their explanation, and take notes using the Gallery Walk Feedback Sheet provided.
After visiting all stations, return to your group and discuss the most effective or interesting materials you observed.
Each student will then write a short reflection answering: “Which material during the gallery walk best demonstrated a principle or procedure of materials development, and why?”
Submit your feedback sheet and reflection at the end of the activity.
