US History

Course description

This course examines the pre-revolutionary history of the United States to the present. It provides students with an opportunity to explore the diverse history of the American people through an inquiry based, thematic approach. Each unit of study is designed around a compelling question; supporting questions will help guide students to answer the compelling question while delving into a variety of primary and secondary sources. Within each unit a variety of approaches will be used to both teach and assess the essential concepts. Successful completion of the course is required for graduation. A sampling of units of study which will be the focus of the student based inquiries include: American Idealism, Stratification and Movements Towards Equality, Immigration, Labor and Working Conditions in America, American Exceptionalism, and America and the World.
