AP Comparative Government and Politics
Course description
AP Comparative Government and Politics introduces students to the rich diversity of political life outside the United States. The course uses a comparative approach to examine the political structures, policies, and the political, economic, and social challenges among six selected countries: Great Britain, Mexico, Russia, Iran, China, and Nigeria, Additionally, students examine how different governments solve similar problems by comparing the effectiveness of approaches to many global issues. Upon completion of the course students will be able to take the Advanced Placement test for potential college credit. The course will emphasize critical thinking and application of knowledge with the goal that students will have a better critical perspective of the inner workings of different systems of government.
Students enrolled in the course are required to take the AP Exam in May.
Open to 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students
