HISTORY AND CULTURAL IMPACT OF SPORTS IN AMERICAN SOCIETY

Course description

This course will examine the development of sports in America. Students will gain a better understanding of the inner relation-ship that sport has on social, economic, cultural, and political forces that are at work in the United States as well as the world. The course will place an emphasis on analyzing primary documents and readings in order to investigate the historical impact sports has had on American society. Students will be challenged to analyze relationships and conduct historical investigations through various assignments, discussions, and visual materials.

Open to 10, 11th, and 12th grade students
