Ongoing professional development supports effective teacher use of technology through the use of instructional technology coaches, teams of teacher leaders, or other systems of support.
All guiding questions are aligned to the element criteria located in the Portfolio Guide. TUPS and TIM (optional for Extension Schools). If you do not use these systems, please include evidence of data around technology integration.
Guiding questions:
Reflect on the Teacher Survey and TIM data. How did the data guide the support provided to teachers?
Some highlights from our TTS 1 Survey:
Teachers are self-reporting their awareness of our digital platforms i.e. Google Suite, Zearn, Edulastic, Kami, Amplify, etc.
90% of teachers are administering digital assessments
60% of teachers report they provide academic feedback to students digitally
90% of students ensure students are accessing their course material using their VILS device.
As a VILS Coach, I look at areas where we can continue to show growth. Since our teachers are confident in the available digital platforms offered as well as the expectation of incorporating devices into their daily lessons, I have started to push teachers into the Adaptation and beyond domains of the TIM-O rubric. This aligns with teacher responses in Tubman's TTS 1 in the following questions:
44% of students are able to choose what to work on through technology
55% of students use technology to create something of their own
30% of students use technology to reach out to peers or experts.

How have the results of the survey impacted student learning?
I have used the survey data to continue to coach teachers and provide targeted opportunities for students and teachers to use technology throughout their lessons.
Tech Updates to Staff
Guiding questions:
How do you support your teachers individually and in small groups? (coaching menu)
By the end of October 2022, I meet with every 3rd - 8th grade content teacher as well as Intervention teacher. We discussed tech norms as well as best practices for using some of our digital platforms. I then followed up with both formal and informal observations and provided feedback.
How do your supports align with PLP and campus goals? (coaching artifacts)
As a VILS Coach, I align my observations, feedback, coaching, and logistical support to staff and students to the academic and cultural goals set by our leadership team. Since my interaction with staff is not evaluative, I am able to provide a safe-space for teachers to try innovative approaches to their teaching. I can offer solutions utilizing our digital platform partnerships and student technology to provide collaborative and interactive lessons to help us continue to make academic gains.
How are learning experiences implemented in the classrooms?
Student use of technology in 100% of classrooms is vital to their learning experience. VILS works hand-in-hand in alignment with our curriculums.
Eureka 2.0 now incorporates digital lessons and assessments within the platform. Students can use their devices to access the curriculum and engage in various other mathematical extensions such as Kahn Academy and Zearn.
ELA teachers can upload all passages and novels to Google Classrooms which ensures all students have access to the materials at all times. Worksheets and printed materials from Wit & Wisdom are also now in digital forms and students can use Kami to complete and get instant digital feedback from teachers. Kami also now provides text-to-speech to ensure students of all reading levels can access grade-level text.
The Amplify curriculum has fantastic digital components such as scientific simulations and interactive lessons. Students now have access to cutting-edge scientific processes and can engage in the scientific community with the help of our devices and curriculum.
The Social Studies department is now able to take the base materials provided by LDOE and incorporate them into Discovery Education. This allows the historical material to come to life to our modern-day students. DE Studio allows teachers to build custom lessons with videos, activities, checks-for-understanding, and even virtual field trips all within a single platform.

Ongoing professional development for myself, especially being new in this position, is also very important to me and I try to find and participate in ongoing PD opportunities
Self Reflection on the Element: (Choose one: Emerging, Aligning, or Optimizing)
We are in the Aligning part in this domain.
Strengths: How did your campus exemplify illustrating this element?
We provide on-going PD to staff based on both teacher feedback as well as leadership team recommendations. As the VILS Coach I closely partner with our DCIs and ILs to provide training and support to individual teachers as well as whole staff.
Next Steps: What could you have done differently to better align with this element?
I would like to shift to using the TIM-O system to document my observations. Since TIM-O is optional for C7 schools, I did not use it consistently during my observations; however, I feel like this is a good way to maintain data and feedback and would like to push myself to use the tool more often moving forward.
