A strong transformation plan unifies the vision for technology integration and device maintenance with the school improvement plan or goals for the year.
Guiding questions:
How did you derive your student-centered goals and action steps?
We derived our student-centered goals and action steps from our annual campus-wide goals. From our campus-wide goals, we worked to merge them with the VILS outcomes and purposeful technology integration.
How did the teachers, students, and families contribute to your plan?
Teachers, students, and families contributed to our plan by reflecting on our year over year school performance score. Our school always strives to increase student achievement and works diligently to maintain our "A" growth rating. The introduction of the VILS program has provided the entire Tubman community with ground breaking ways for us to support scholars in not only increasing their academic achievement, but in our ability to deliver on all of the VILS outcomes!
What is your progress on the action steps?
All of these goals are still in progress, for concrete examples please see the artifacts that showcase where we are in reaching our PLP goals!
Have you had to modify or change your course of action (based on data)?
Yes, as a network, every decision we make and every action we take are informed by the board range of data we gather. Academic directors use interim data to determine content based changes for the next trimester. Our Culture and Mental Health teams use behavioral data to inform best supports for struggling scholars. Teachers use exit ticket and weekly assessment data to inform instruction. As the VILS coach I use my TIM-O walkthroughs and TTS data to refine my PLP action steps, tailor my coaching feedback and derive the content of my professional development trainings for staff.
Guiding questions:
Does instruction reflect that teachers understand how different uses of technology support teaching and learning goals?
Yes, instruction reflects that teachers understand how different uses of technology support teaching and learning goals. Teachers have received training on the TIM-O to better understand the levels of technology integration for each TIM characteristic.
How does the campus leadership team model and collaborate with each other to support campus goals?
As a leadership team, Zondra meets with mid-level leaders and directors to discuss our larger goals/playbook (academic, culture, staff, etc.). In those meetings, we track our success towards the plan or any changes that need to be made.
How does the district leadership team innovate and collaborate to ensure long-term sustainable practices?
As a district, we meet weekly across campuses, where most of our collaboration happens. We often brainstorm, divide everyday tasks, or share insights and knowledge to help make our work more productive and impactful.
Are technology use policies well documented, understood by both students and teachers, and reinforced?
Yes, our technology use policies are well documented within the Student Technology Handbook and on posters that hang in every classroom. These policies are reinforced by teachers check daily for charged devices and audit for damages. They are also reinforced by all staff members holding all students accountable for using their devices appropriately and with care. Students understand the policies by adhering to them, receiving consequences when they do not, and learning from those mistakes.
Have VILS IT management practices been incorporated districtwide? Explain.
Yes, our District IT lead and School Based IT staff have incorporated VILS management practices district wide. Our roll-out/roll-in procedures, repair processes, the app/extension approval system, and the majority of the contents in the Student Technology Handbook have been standardized across the district. Additionally, there is a weekly district-wide IT meeting with the School Based IT members, the District IT lead, and our outside IT contractor to address shared IT issues.
