ONgoing Professional Learning

Ongoing professional development supports effective teacher use of technology through the use of instructional technology coaches, teams of teacher leaders, or other systems of support.

Data

Data is used to assess many points of progress. Some of these assessed points include device use, student projects, teacher use of tools, instructional technology use, and more.

Data is used to monitor and adjust professional learning to support these goals.

Across the district, there is an abundance of Professional Development opportunities. These opportunities include synchronous and asynchronous, as well as non-traditional opportunities for professional growth.

Professional Development

Irving ISD is a leader in growing our educators through a variety of professional development opportunities. Our goal is to grow teachers into leaders by investing in our stakeholders. Irving ISD focuses on dynamic professional development experiences to meet the needs of all learners.  We offer a variety of nontraditional opportunities such as 20 min Tech, Micro PDs, on campus poster sessions, teacher led opportunities, a 24/7 bank of district created resource training hub and more.

Campus Opportunities

Campuses uphold Irving ISD's value of growing teachers into leaders. Teacher Leader Teams (TLTs) spearhead professional learning for each campus based on educators' needs by providing a multifaceted approach to adult learning. Professional development frequently follows a model of active learning. Non-traditional professional growth opportunities include concepts such as Twitter chats, educator book clubs, and hands-on opportunities for educators to experience students' point of view.

District and National Leaders

Being a leader in professional learning includes providing progressive learning experiences to meet the needs of our educators. Educators are afforded flexible learning spaces and times that fit within their busy lives. 20 Minute Tech provides compact learning focusing on one topic, coupled with an exit ticket to maximize time and learning.

Irving ISD educators frequently participate in Digital Promise and VILS national events. We are proud to have our educators as presenters for VILS Convening, various monthly calls, and cohort onboardings. Through our educators volunteering to participate on a national level, we aid our district to hone its skills and define our own professional learning goals.

COach Support

Digital Learning Coaches (DLCs) facilitate the effective integration of technology into the teaching and learning process for all classrooms and students. Instruction is supported through DLCs' collaboration with teachers. Coaching Menus outline specific ways that teachers are supported, provide visual reminders, and prompt teachers to seek assistance. DLCs are support for success. We are not evaluative, nor administrators.
