Family Engagement

Schools that support family engagement in boosting at-home digital use can expect better outcomes.

STUDENT GROWTH

Families are able to support their students many ways in Irving ISD. Students use digital tools such as Canvas and Google Slides to learn how to track their own progress. Parents can sign up as an Observer in Canvas, which links to their students' Canvas account. This allows parents to view assignment due dates, announcements, and other course content. Our families have access to the official online gradebook to view students' assignments and grades.

Parent & Family OUTREACH

Including families in their students' academic journey is paramount to the students' success. Resources that facilitate school-home communication include Kinvolved, PeachJar, School Messenger, TalkingPoints, websites and social media. With the use of multiple digital platforms, the digital fluency of all stakeholders has grown to a high functioning level, which further supports our initiatives to grow 21st century learners.

Parent and Family engagement is leveraged remotely and in-person. Our Parent Centers provide opportunities such as Parent Classes, STEAM Nights, and literacy classes. Community Resource fairs are hosted to provide for the diverse needs of our families in innovative ways.
