To close the digital learning gap, we must make sure that students have access to technology and high-speed internet outside of school.

DEVICE STATUS

Daily devices are available for check-out, when needed. Campus-wide systems in place provide students with access to chargers, daily devices for check out when needed, and opportunities to seek device repair. Each course Canvas page houses resource buttons for students, including Technology Support and Device Help.

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP

At Austin, we have a number of device related digital citizenship processes that help us protect students and devices

  • Upon arrival, students show a school leader their iPad, allowing leaders to check for damage and that the device is charged and ready for school

  • Our district uses a 3rd party content filter and a Google monitoring partner that help keep students on task, safe and healthy

  • Before each extended school break, DLCs and CTs work together to promote device care through a variety of platforms

Student Tech Team

Students learn invaluable skills working alongside the Campus Technician and the Digital Learning Coach. Soft skills and technical skills are fostered and scaffolded while these students serve their peers and teachers. Irving ISD Technical Services is committed to growing leaders from within.
