Bus transportation expectations
Being kind to others when I talk and act on the bus. This means I am quiet, and I let others read or rest if they would like. I do not yell at my other friends on the bus, I only quietly talk to the people next to me.
Respecting everyone, including my peers, my bus monitor, and my bus driver.
Following directions that are given to me by the bus monitors, bus driver, or any other adults in charge. This means I sit where I am asked to sit and I do not stand up, move around the bus, or try to jump over the seats.
Using respectful language that does not hurt or make someone feel bad when I am on the bus.
Being respectful of belongings and space, including the things my friends and I bring on the bus, and the bus itself.
Kindles may be used for reading quietly on the bus.
Mobile phones can be used at appropriate times including on the bus. Phones should not be used during scheduled instructional time and should be on silent while in class.. All students may use the phone in the office to contact parents if needed.
Students may not have food or drink (except for a water bottle) on the bus.
Students must wear seat belts as instructed by the monitor and driver.
Personal Transportation
Some families may prefer that their child walk or bike to school independently, or they may choose to transport their child to and from school via private transportation. If your child will not be traveling to and from school via DGS bus, there are certain expectations that should be followed:
Parents must submit appropriate forms to the Dewey School.
The school is not responsible for students until they in at the Dewey gate, nor after the student signs out at the Dewey gate.
