How Can I Support My Student at Home?

Your STUDENT should:

  • Attend school daily and show up to each class on time.

  • Get Organized! Use a planner or calendar to keep track of assignments, tests, and due dates. Clean out backpack weekly and look for assignments that should have been turned in.

  • Respect themselves and others; students who leave class frequently are missing out on academic instruction and peer collaboration.

  • Attend Office Hours for Academic Support - Office hours are embedded into PDHS' schedule and are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:21 am- 12:01 pm.

PARENTS/Guardians can support students by:

  1. Check ParentVue – Often! Parents/guardians can check ParentVue weekly to check and track academic progress. Encourage your student to be proactive about their work to prevent missing assignments from piling up.

  • If you need to retrieve your username or password, please call the main office at 760-862-4300 or view log in instructions HERE

When reviewing student grades and progress on ParentVue/StudentVue

Is my student consistently turning in completed work?

Is my student turning in work on time? Do they have multiple missing assignments?

Is my student consistently receiving low scores on quizzes or tests?

  1. Communicate with teachers early and often to see what your student can do to maintain or improve their grade. Email tends to be the most convenient mode of communication.

    • Make connections with your student’s teachers. With positive, open-minded communication you can establish a partnership with those teachers to help your student be successful.

  1. Attendance – Check your student’s attendance on a regular basis. Frequent absences (excused or unexcused) have a big impact on academic success. Students need to be in their seat and ready to learn when the bell rings.
