The following information is for students and families that are NEW to Desert Sands Unified School District
NEW ENROLLMENTS FOR FALL 2024 WILL BEGIN MAY 1, 2024!

Enrollment or Withdrawals
Regular hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 am-4:00 pm
Summer hours: Monday-Thursday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm
Please check in with Reception in the Administration Building for a visitor's pass. Once enrolled, you should receive a postcard around the end of July or beginning of August that will outline the REGISTRATION PROCESS. REGISTRATION takes place in the fall just prior to school starting.
TRANSFER STUDENTS
For students attending another DSUSD school or a school outside of DSUSD boundaries
A transfer request is required for:
students that reside outside of Desert Sands USD boundaries (e.g. if your address falls into the area serviced by Palm Springs USD or Coachella Valley USD). These interdistrict transfer requests must be renewed on an annual basis.
5th grade and 8th grade students that reside in Desert Sands USD boundaries who are currently on a transfer and will be promoting to middle school or high school for the following school year.
A transfer request is NOT required annually if the student is already on an intra-district transfer (lives within Desert Sands USD boundaries) and is staying at the same school next year (as long as the address has not changed since first approved).
TRANSFER APPROVAL
If you have been approved for a transfer to PDHS for the 2024-25 school year, call our Counseling Office for information regarding next steps (registration, course selection, etc.) 760-862-4300, x46057.
If you live outside the boundaries of Desert Sands Unified School District and are currently on a transfer from your home district, you are required to reapply for a transfer each year. If you intend to continue at Palm Desert High School in 2024-25, we encourage you to apply for a transfer as early as possible.
Desert Sands Unified School District office of Child Welfare and Attendance will begin taking school transfers for the school year 2024-2025, starting December 5, 2023 through February 28, 2024. The transfer application window will reopen in June, 2024.
If you would like to apply for a transfer you may visit the Desert Sands Unified School District website and click on transfers or you may visit www.k12transfers.com. Please make sure to choose your district of residence correctly because any application not filled out correctly may result in a delay in your request.
Transfers are allowed in Desert Sands Unified School District per Board of Education Policy, and are based on available space. For schools whose capacity will not allow for the number of applications made, an unbiased lottery process is made to fill available spots for applications that have been submitted on or before February 28, 2024. Applicants that are not chosen are placed in a waiting pool in case more spots open up at a later date. Parents will be notified by May 31, 2024 via email/mail, regarding the results of the application submitted.
PLEASE NOTE:
Students from DSUSD middle schools will roll over automatically if they currently reside in the PDHS boundaries.
If a student is on an Inter- or Intra-district transfer, s/he will need to reapply for the 2024-25 school year if s/he has not already done so.
Contact DSUSD Office of Child Welfare & Attendance for instructions. Once your transfer is approved, you may enroll at the high school. If you receive an approval letter, bring it to the counseling office when you come to enroll.
