Cultivates Community Partnerships
Cultivates partnerships within the school and local community (including families and caregivers, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, public and higher education libraries, businesses) to promote engagement and a community of readers.
Current Practices and Artifacts:
Communicates with families through email, social media, library websites, and school newsletters
Works with parent volunteers
Hosts guest speakers, virtual and in-person author visits, and book fairs
Past author visits include: Alan Gratz, Lorelei Savaryn, John David Anderson, Dusti Bowling, Marla McKenna, Padma Venkatraman
Elementary, Intermediate, and Middle Schools host Scholastic Book Fairs
Promotes Brown County Library usage and summer reading program
Maintains library websites to communicate with families and the community
Utilizes Wisconsin Schools Digital Library Consortium to provide our students with access to e-books and audio books at the elementary level
Participates in the WEMTA Battle of the Books
Attends NEW Library Network meetings
Attends bi-weekly virtual DPI meetings with Monica Treptow, DPI School Library Media Education Consultant
Coordinates middle school book club field trips to elementary libraries to read with primary students
Opportunities for Growth:
Allow students (ages 13 and up) to receive communication from outside the district to enhance learning and put into practice good digital literacy
Time to connect, collaborate, and plan with colleagues
Increase timely communication about library programming via social media and district and building newsletters
Connect students with experts in content areas both in the local and global communities
Restart school wide family book clubs
Reconnect with St. Norbert and other outside resources for guest speaker opportunities
