Infusing fun through traditional games while paying tribute to the tribes of New Baclayon, Malalag, Davao del Sur, the School Panaghiusa Festival with the theme “Ating Pandayin ang Kinabukasan, Gabay ang Katutubong Karunungan at Karapatan” was held yesterday, October 1, 2015, at Benito J. Quibod Elementary School. The celebration proved to be both meaningful and successful.
The event was spearheaded by the School IP Coordinator, Mary Sweetheart Vaniza C. Estimada, Teacher III. The opening program began with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, conducted by Noviene Q. Abril, Teacher II, followed by an opening prayer led by Suzette A. Relatado, Teacher I. Cresalven T. Ecoy, Master Teacher II and District IP Coordinator, then delivered her words of welcome, encouraging IP learners to take pride in their roots.
Adding more inspiration and cultural spirit to the celebration was the presence of Bae Angelina Canceran, Barangay Tribal Elder, and Roy Canceran, Barangay IPMR, who both shared heartfelt messages that motivated the participants and the audience.
After the opening program, IP learners engaged in various traditional games, such as katkat sa kawayan, labo-labo, kalisong, lolot, kadang-kadang, karang, artistic bead making, mat weaving, tinutukay, ten ten, pataasay og utong, and papana ug totho.
Winners in events like katkat sa kawayan, artistic bead making, pataasay og utong, totho, kadang-kadang, lolot, papana, and kalisong will represent Benito J. Quibod Elementary School in the District Panaghiusa Festival on October 8, 2025. #
