Nine young responders from Benito J. Quibod Elementary School (BQUES) represented their school in the 2025 Inter-School Malalag Emergency Response Challenge held on June 30, 2025, at Rizal Park, Malalag, Davao del Sur.
The event was organized by the Malalag Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) to promote disaster preparedness and emergency response skills among learners.
BQUES’s budding lifesavers, Erfel Buendia, Radge Jacob Del Rosario, Carlos Jose Gallego, John Rex Rotaquio, Frank Johnniel Santiago, Prince Destian Pasgdan, Reajan Vismanos, Rendon Ordanez, and John Erich Atanque, competed in emergency response activities such as knot tying, bleeding control and bandaging techniques, and lift and carry exercises.
The team received a ₱3,000 consolation prize in recognition of their dedication and effort.
Coach John Jimenez shared, “We may not have brought home the bacon, but what truly matters is the valuable experience our learners gained.”
As a gesture of appreciation, School Principal Ireene P. Saligumba handed out certificates of recognition to the future first responders during today’s Nutrition Month culmination program. #
