Angeles City is one of the pilot sites of Opportunity 2.0. Establishment of the Angeles City Youth Development Alliance to strengthen OSY Services in Angeles City. A way to transition OSYs/ ALS Learners to Entrepreneurship or Further Education is the conduct of Pathway Orientation for the Youth which leads to Work-Based Learning’s main feature is the work immersion component which aims to provide real-life work experience to learners. Before this, learners will undergo fun, learning activities such as job shadowing and work observation among others. Our main partner is AC PESO and DOLE and other business associations and chambers of commerce for job opportunities after the training.
Next, is the Be-Your-Own-Boss which enables learners to create suitable and contextualized business plans for them to be business-ready. With partners from DTI and chambers of commerce too, start-up capital/kits were also provided, and follow-up training was provided to budding entrepreneurs to support them in their entrepreneurial journey.
Lastly, the Higher Education and Readiness Orientation (HERO) aims to make it easier for ALS learners and other OSYs to know what options are available for them once they finish ALS JHS. We invited school officials of participating schools/academic institutions to talk about their offerings which include scholarship opportunities too.
DepEd ALS AC’s integral role in training and overall facilitation, logistics, and partnership with the ACYDA and other stakeholders enabled learners to learn in a holistic manner.
