LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0 is developed to engage and motivate elementary students’ interest in learning science- and engineering-related subjects. This is done through the use of motorized LEGO models and simple programming. WeDo 2.0 supports a hands-on, “minds on” learning solution that gives students the confidence to ask questions and the tools to find the answers and to solve real-life problems. Students learn by asking questions and solving problems. The lesson material does not tell students everything they need to know. Instead it makes them question what they know and explore what they do not yet understand.
The WeDo 2.0 Core Set contains all of the building elements required to build the Get Started Project, along with the base and design library models featured in the WeDo 2.0 Curriculum Pack.
All apps for Lego Wedo are free. If you would like to have these apps loaded on your school iPads, have your School iPad manager purchase the app through Apple's Volume Purchase program, and push it out to your iPads. The manager will need to know the name of your iPad Kit. Chromebooks can also be used, and the app has been pushed out to these devices.
Prior to booking any Robotics kit we suggest that students spend some time learning about Computational Thinking through both unplugged activities and digital activities. Teachers have found that students who have developed an understanding of Computational Thinking concepts were able to go much further and deeper with the kits. Code.org provides a good place to start as it provides resources, unplugged activities and well structures lessons.
