Below are the curricular competencies for grades K - 9. In grades K - 3 only those in blue apply.
The documents below map out how the core and curricular competencies relate within the ADST curriculum. Using the "I can..." statements, can assist in planning and assessment. The core competencies are not comprehensive, but instead provides selected core competencies that can be easily weaved with the ADST curricular competencies. Further facets may be added that better suit the learning.
The Documents below cover all aspects of the Design Thinking process. They are only one possible tool and you may have some great tools to share with your ADST team. Use one sheet with your class or use them all. Adjust the "I can..." target statements to reflect the competencies you are working on. Co-create the criteria and guiding statements/question with your class, so they have a solid understanding of the expectations. If students work with partners or in small groups, encourage each to ask their group members for help with the evidence. For example, "Taylor, how did you know that I was listening to you?" Taylor replies, "You were looking at me and nodding your head and you had questions for me that made it sound like you were really listening to what I was saying." The conversations they'll have will amaze you.
