Mr. Fleming brings a calm, steady presence to JYK Discovery Charter School. As our Lead Climate Control Officer, his work is simple at heart: make sure every student and adult feels safe, welcomed, and ready to learn. You’ll see him at the doors in the morning with a smile, in the hallways between classes, and in classrooms supporting teachers—always looking for ways to reduce stress, solve problems early, and keep the day moving smoothly.
He believes discipline should teach, not punish. Mr. Fleming uses restorative conversations, clear expectations, and positive routines so students can repair harm, reflect, and rejoin the learning community with dignity. He partners closely with teachers, counselors, and families, building plans that support social-emotional growth, good attendance, and productive choices. When conflicts do arise, he’s known for listening first, de-escalating with care, and helping students find their voice.
Behind the scenes, Mr. Fleming tracks climate data to spot patterns, leads staff refreshers on de-escalation and classroom culture, and coordinates safety and movement plans for busy parts of the day—arrival, lunch, dismissal, and school events. His goal is a building that feels calm, joyful, and consistent from the front door to the last classroom.
Most of all, Mr. Fleming believes our students deserve a school day that lets them shine. He often says, “When the climate is right, learning takes off.” At JYK Discovery Charter School, he works every day to make that a reality—one greeting, one conversation, and one win at a time.
