Mr. Hunter brings more than 25 years of classroom and leadership experience to JYK Discovery Charter School. He believes every child deserves joyful, rigorous learning—and that schools thrive when teachers are supported, families are welcomed as partners, and students see clear pathways to their dreams. A listener first and a builder always, Victor is known for rolling up his sleeves, visiting classrooms daily, and celebrating the small wins that lead to big growth.
As Director of Education, Mr. Hunter will lead with care and clarity. He’s committed to strengthening curriculum and instruction across K–8, making sure every lesson is engaging, culturally responsive, and aligned to Pennsylvania standards. He will coach and champion teachers, expand hands-on learning in STEM and the arts, and ensure that reading, writing, and math foundations are strong for every learner—especially those who need extra support. Equally important, he’ll prioritize students’ social-emotional well-being so that classrooms are safe, inclusive places where curiosity and confidence grow.
Mr. Hunter believes schools are at their best when families are invited into the learning journey. You’ll see him at arrival and dismissal, in community meetings, and at student showcases—listening, problem-solving, and keeping communication open and honest. His door is always open.
This year, Victor will focus on:
Coaching and supporting teachers with practical, in-classroom strategies.
Strengthening literacy and numeracy from the early grades up.
Expanding hands-on, project-based learning (including STEAM and real-world experiences).
Using data gently and wisely to help every student grow.
Deepening inclusion and supports for diverse learners.
Building strong family partnerships with clear, consistent communication.
Most of all, Mr. Hunter is here for JYK students—to know them by name, honor their stories, and help them become the curious, compassionate, and capable global learners our community is proud to raise.
