Prom is open to juniors and seniors and their dates. Dates may be from another high school if the Prom Guest Permission Form is received by April 30th.

Look for a prom t-shirt order form to go out soon!

Tickets may be purchased with Ms. Hurst in the library. Forms are located next to the circulation desk.

YEARBOOK INFORMATION

College Fair

The Alabama Association of Registrars and Admissions Officers (ALACRAO) is excited to host an upcoming Drive-Thru College Fair at Calhoun Community College-Huntsville Campus on Tuesday, April 6th from 3:30 – 6:00 PM.

Location: Calhoun Community College –Huntsville Campus, 102 Wynn Dr. NW Huntsville, AL 35805. A map is attached to this email.

Fair Details:

  • The fair will be located in front of the Math/Science/CIS building facing the interstate.

  • A QR code will be used for the students to share their information electronically. They will be able to choose which colleges they want to receive their information and ALACRAO will send colleges the student lists after the fairs have concluded. Please encourage your students to make sure their phones are charged for the event!

  • Here is the link for the QR code. I have also included the QR code as an attachment to this email.

  • The map that is attached shows the driving direction in which the students should use when entering the parking lot.

SUMMER ART CAMP - The Project 2021

9th and 10th graders. Please see the email from the counseling department about the Edge Student Leadership program. This is an opportunity for upcoming 10th and 11th graders for next school year. You will find more info and the application in your email. Applications are due April 16th.


JROTC Awards Ceremony will be after school 4-5 pm on Wednesday, March 24th in the DHS Auditorium. All Cadets are expected to be in uniform. Parents and all DHS faculty are welcome to attend. All Campus COVID Protocols apply.


Congratulations to the Scholars Bowl team for qualifying for the state tournament and being invited to the national championship!


PROM TICKETS ARE NOW ON SALE! Prom is May 8th in our courtyard. Lead out location to be announced soon. You may purchase tickets online through epay or with Ms. Hurst in the library. Tickets are $50 for one or $90 for two. Deadline to purchase tickets is April 23rd. Also, any student bringing a date who attends a high school other than DHS must turn in a "Prom Guest Permission Form" to Ms. Hurst by April 30th. The forms are located on the website, in the newsletter, in the library, main office, and guidance.


National English Honor Society current members and those selected for membership must pay dues with Ms. Hurst by Wednesday April 7th. Returning members owe $10; New members owe $20; and any senior who wishes to order a cord will owe an additional $10.


Yearbooks are now on sale. The 2019-20 yearbooks and the 2020-21 yearbooks will be here before school is out. Order forms are available on the website, in the newsletter, and in the library. Senior ads are also available - deadline is April 16th for senior ads and April 30 for all yearbook orders. All forms may be turned in to Ms. Hurst in the library. Payment may be made through EPay or with Ms. Hurst.


SENIORS:


April 13th - pick up any graduation supplies you ordered (cap, gown, announcements, etc) at the curbside distribution at DHS

1:15-3:30 - virtual students or students with an open 4th block

3:30-4:00 - traditional/blended students


April 14th - 8 am in the Arena: Decatur Daily graduation pictures and the senior virtual walk video. You will wear your graduation gown over graduation attire. Guys: Button Down shirt, tie and dress pants Girls: Dress

Pictures will be made in groups of about 20 and will be in the graduation edition of the Decatur Daily.

Senior Virtual Walk Video will be shown to your elementary and middle school teachers. You will say your name, what elementary and middle school you attended and your plans for after you graduate from DHS (job, college, etc).

Technology Replacement

For the 2020-21 school year, DCS will be charging for the replacement of a lost Chromebook or charger. The replacement cost for a lost Chromebook is $250 and for a lost charger is $20.

If your Chromebook has been stolen please see the school resource officer.

If your Chromebook is damaged or if you need a Chromebook or MIFI device, please FILL OUT THE FROM MS. HURST SENT YOU BY EMAIL.
