Shout out to Mrs. Wise!
Thank you for stepping up and presenting SMART Goals to the staff. Building leadership capacity amongst staff is one of the most important ways to promote continuous success in a school.

In light of a visit from a Presidential Advisor and the anniversary of the terror attacks on 9/11, this week we will review the Homeland Security Advisory System.
Although a threat level of red is low, and is typically assigned to specific areas or modes of transportation, we must know procedures to ensure the safety of our students. If the United States is placed under a national threat that is elevated to Severe Condition (RED), Decatur City Schools should take the following actions:
1. Modified Lockdown: Lock all exterior doors, restrict all public entrance, account for students and monitor the news. Class changes will be controlled and directed by the administration.
2. Buses will be readied if an evacuation is necessary.
3. Wait for further instruction from law enforcement or government agencies.
Our school-wide discipline is off to a great start! Thank you for working together to fix those broken windows. Students are starting to understand that misbehaviors and civil unrest will not be the norm and will not be accepted. We truly have some great kids!
