Learning and Instruction
Standard 4 is all about demonstrating that a leader can set up and conduct high-quality curriculum and instruction, evaluations, that are equitable for all students. This will result in a high student success rate. Leaders must be able to make data-based decisions, provide support for all of the curricular areas to promote a positive and healthy learning environment.Â
For this artifact, I worked on a PDSA for the past two years that looks at vertical collaboration across grade levels within my current system. I reached out to each grade level for input and facilitated all conversations, as well as a PD on it beforehand. This was throughout the 2021-22 and 2022-23 school years.
Conducting this PDSA and reflecting on it has allowed me to understand the importance of a high-quality instructional leader. This artifact demonstrates my proficiency in standard 3 by showing the work that goes into facilitating collaboration amongst grade levels to gain an understanding of the standards and learning targets each grade has.
This artifact is a paper written about the traits, skills, and characteristics that make up a highly effective instructional leader. This was written during EDL 273, in the summer semester of 2022.
Learning and instruction are two vital components of being an effective leader. My proficiency in this standard is shown through this paper by discussing the traits, characteristics, and skills that an instructional leader needs to have. As a leader, these are the things I would strive to work for and would encourage my staff to work on as well.
