Standard 1
Mission, Vision, and Improvement
Mission, Vision, and Improvement
To be an effective leader in any capacity, one must successfully build a system that works towards a collective mission and vision, and working towards constant improvement. This is not something that said leader can do alone, as it needs to be a collective commitment from the system they are leading. The mission and vision should be visible throughout the building through the hard work of the staff, the achievements of the students, and the collaboration with the community.
For this artifact, I completed the Baldrige Framework to my current system to identify areas of strengths and areas in need of improvements. This was completed in the spring of 2022, during EDL 272.Â
This artifact covers 3 or the 7 Baldrige components: Leadership (1), Customers (3), and Workforce (5). This artifact demonstrates proficency of standard 1 due to the fact that the first component of Baldrige evaluates the effectiveness of my system's mission, vision, and values. During my analysis, I found that our building does not have a mission or vision statement. This was identified as an opportunity for improvement.
For this artifact, I wrote a paper that discusses and reflects on the best efforts in our education systems. It was written in the spring of 2022, during EDL 272
This artifact demonstrates that one needs to have a depth of knowledge, and seek out knowledge they don't have, in order to start seeing improvements. Frameworks like Baldrige assists in avoiding best efforts. This demonstrates proficiency of standard 1 by ensuring we are improving our system to meet our mission, vision and values.
