Stage 5

Visual Arts is a way of responding to the world around you. Through art making we explore our experience, thoughts and feelings and give these ideas a visual form.

What will you learn

The study of visual arts enables you to develop an interest in and enjoyment of investigating the world through your ideas, aesthetics and the contexts of being an artist. You will work in a broad range of forms, media and styles. Through critical reflection and acquiring understanding, knowledge and skills, you will creatively develop your own ideas into artworks.

How will you learn

You will learn by creating a variety of art works with different art media.

Your practical work is linked to the theory to enhance overall understanding

Visual Arts is offered two ways as a

  • 100 hours course for one year

  • 200hours course for two years



How will you be assessed

50% practical and 50% theory course.

In class artworks form the basis of the practical mark as long with your Visual Arts Process Diary (VAPD)

Research tasks and assignments and in-class test will reflect the theory component.
