Preliminary Music 1

All students will gain experience in Composing, Performing, Musicology and Listening (Aural Skills)

Topics include:

• Film Music

• Jazz Music

• Musical Theatre

• Popular Music

• Music for Small Ensembles

• Technology and its influence on Music

• Rock Music

• Renaissance

• Methods of Notating Music

• Australian Music

HSC Music 1

Core – 40%

• Everyone MUST do one performance (10 marks)

AND

• Listening Examination which consists of 4 short essay questions (30 Marks)

Elective – 60%

• Choose from three electives either Performance, Musicology or Composition.

So 60% of the course is up to you in Music 1!
