Q. What do I need for school supplies?
A. 5-6 notebooks & folders to match, book covers, pens and pencils. Teachers will let you know if you need anything special for a class.
Q. What do I do if I need to make a schedule change?
A. Generally, students are not allowed to make schedule changes once school starts. You can look over your schedule on Infinite Campus and contact Mr. Uppena, if changes need to be made. Special circumstances occasionally arise to justify making a change once school has started. In these cases, students are to contact the Counseling office.
Q. What do I do if I forget my Locker Number or Combination?
A. The Counseling office or Main office can help you.
Q. How much time do I have between classes?
A. You have 3 minutes to get from one class to the next.
Q. Is there a dress code?
A. DHS students have generally used good judgment concerning dress and grooming while at school. Trust is put with students with the understanding they will dress in a manner, which is not distractive, or constitute a health or safety hazard.
If the Staff or Faculty thinks you are dressed inappropriately, you will be asked to change. (You may want to keep an extra t-shirt in your Phy Ed locker).
No hats are to be worn in the building during the school day by males or females,
No short shorts, no low cut or see-through blouses, no clothing that exposes the midriff or cleavage.
Pants or shorts should be secured with a belt and be above the hips.
Underwear should not be exposed.
Shoulders should be covered.
Clothing advertising alcoholic beverages or those with obscene or questionable printing on them will not be permitted.
Q. Where do I pay for my lunch?
A. You pay for you lunch at the Main office window.
Before the school day. After the school day. And during your lunch.
Q. When do I go to lunch?
A. You will be dismissed for lunch when your 5th hour teacher tells you to go.
Q. Can I borrow or loan a lunch to a friend?
A. This is not allowed at the high school. Lunch is deducted from your individual Infinite Campus account. Parents can check your lunch balance at any time. Students can ask for their lunch balance at any time.
Q. Is there a Lost & Found?
A. The Lost & Found is located in the Main office. Please turn any unclaimed articles found in the building or on the grounds to the main office. It's a good idea to keep your locker locked, to protect your books and folders. If you have a book or folder in the lost and found, you will be asked to pay $0.50 to receive your folder and/or $1.00 for your book.
Q. Where do the buses unload in the morning, and pick up in the afternoon?
A. Buses drop off and pick up at the Auditorium entrance located at the West end of the building.
Q. What do I do if I am going to be absent?
A. Your parent/guardian is expected to telephone the high school office at 776-4001 before 9:00 a.m. on the day of an absence.
When returning to school after being absent for all or a portion of the day, you must stop in the main office and obtain an admit slip.
Q. What if I have to leave school for an appointment?
A. Your parent/guardian is expected to telephone the school and request that the student be released giving the time and purpose for such release.
You must obtain a pass from the office before leaving the building and check in through the office upon returning.
Q. Semester Exams?
A. All students are required to take semester exams.

Q. When and where do I serve my detention?
A. Detention will be held from 3:35-4:20 p.m. on Monday through Friday.
Listen to the afternoon announcements for the room location.
Q. Where can I park my car?
A. Student cars must be parked on the surface portion of the North side of the High School. Students are not at any time, other then those times designated by the administration, to park on the grass areas.
There should be no students parked in the locker room cubicle area.
Q. Can I use my cell phone in high School?
A. While in the building during the school day, from the first bell to the last bell signifying the end of the school day, cell phones or any communication device may not be used. All cell phones or other communication devices must be kept in your car or locker. Cell phones which are stored in your locker must be turned off. Any violation of this procedure will be met with the following consequences:
1st Violation – 1 Detention, confiscation of the phone for three school days, parent/student conference with the principal, with the principal explaining the consequences for a second offense. The cell phone will be returned to the parent after three school days. 2nd Violation – 3 Detentions, loss of exam waiver, parent/student conference with the principal, explaining the consequences for a subsequent offense. The cell phone will be returned to the parent after ten school days. Subsequent Violations – Confiscation of the phone until the end of the school year, parent/student conference with the principal, followed by a suspension from school. The suspension may be an in-school or an out of school suspension at the discretion of the principal.
