Welcome to WJEC Medical Science

This course offers you the chance to learn about the science behind dealing with the maintenance of health and the prevention and treatment of disease. It is ideal for you if you are thinking of a career in healthcare or medical research.

The qualification allows you to access higher education courses, or equips you with the skills to enter employment in areas of medical science such as clinical laboratory services.

The units studies include:

• Human health and disease

• Physiological measurement techniques

• Medical Science research methods

• Medicines and treatment of disease

• Clinical laboratory techniques

• Medical case study

The assessment is a mixture of assignments completed throughout the course, and examinations that are marked externally. Learners are allowed two resits of the external units.
