Reading
Third graders should read for 30 minutes each day. It is important for students to read a variety of texts that they are excited about.
Throughout the summer, students should work on the Summer Work Packs sent home at the end of the last week of school. Lessons are labeled in the workbook beginning with "day 1." We encourage students to complete one lesson per day, Monday through Thursday, each week. There are 20 lessons total. Students should continue to read every day throughout the entire summer.
Third-grade students can respond to comprehension questions by talking about the text and writing about it.
