Welcome to the interactive learning page for fifth grade students! On this page, you will find website resources for reading, writing, math, science, social studies, English Learners, and the arts. Kids can spend time learning with these sites to build fluency in all areas!
Math
In 5th grade, your child will be developing fluency in addition and subtraction of fractions, exploring multiplication and division situations with fractions, developing an understanding of the relationship between fractions and decimals and applying that understanding to operations with decimals, and exploring the concept of volume. The online resources below offer an opportunity for your child to build on and reinforce ideas presented in the classroom.
Fifth graders should spend 30-40 minutes a day practicing math.
Place the symbols in the expression
Satisfraction: Identify, simplify, compare and calculate with fractions
Choose the operations to make the target number
Addition strategy game
Standards based games covering all math domains
Find the fact family with multiplication and addition
Reading
Fifth Graders should read for 30-50 minutes each day. It is important for students to read a variety of texts that they are excited about.
Throughout the summer, students should work on the Summer Bridge Activities (located in the blue bag) sent home the last week of school. Lessons are labeled in the workbook beginning with "day 1." We encourage students to complete one lesson per day, Monday through Thursday.
Each page also has a code to access 10 free IXL lessons online each day - an account is not required. Students should continue to read every day throughout the entire summer.
Fifth-grade students can respond to comprehension questions by talking about the text and writing about it.
**NOTE: Fifth Grade students are required to complete the Incoming 6th Grade Assignment (click underlined link or see Grade 6-8 Page in this website) before the start of the 2025-2026 school year. **
