Reading
First graders should read aloud for 30 minutes each day. It is important for students to read a variety of texts they are excited about.
Throughout the summer, students should work on the Summer Work Packs sent home the last week of school. Lessons are labeled in the workbook beginning with "day 1." We encourage students to complete one lesson per day, Monday - Thursday, each week. There are 20 lessons total. Students should continue to read every day throughout the entire summer.
First graders can practice sight words. Students can also respond to comprehension questions by talking about the text or writing about it.
