Math

In 2nd grade, your child is deepening their understanding of the Base Ten Number System, building fluency in addition and subtraction, exploring measurement using standard units, and using their knowledge of geometry to describe and analyze shapes. The online resources below offer an opportunity for your child to build on and reinforce ideas presented in the classroom.

Second graders should spend 20-30 minutes a day practicing math.

Reading

Second graders should read silently or aloud for 20-30 minutes each day. It is important for students to read a variety of texts that they are excited about.

Second graders can practice sight words phrases. Students can also respond to comprehension questions by talking about the text or writing about it.

It is important for young learners to listen to stories every day! Students can hear stories read aloud from a family member, in RAZ Kids and on other websites!
