My name is Khushi Iyengar, and my journey in animal welfare began when I first volunteered with Austin Pets Alive as an animal loving kid. After moving to Dallas in 2011, getting involved with Dallas Pets Alive felt like the perfect fit. I joined DPA in February 2021 as a Foster Representative and quickly realized how passionate I am about animal welfare. In June 2021, I became a Temp Foster Coordinator, and by March 2022, I was helping on the Transport team—a role I’ve held ever since. I’m thrilled to now serve as Assistant Transport Director, working alongside our Transport Director, Gabby, to ensure every animal’s journey is safe and successful.
Although I currently work in Los Angeles, I’ve loved volunteering with DPA from day one. In 2022, I adopted my wonderfully sassy cat, Sars, from DPA, and had the joy of fostering two adorable kittens through DPA which only deepened my commitment to rescue work. I also share my home with Tini, a cockapoo I rescued from the shelter I currently work at in LA. My goal is to continue contributing to the lifesaving efforts at DPA and to keep making a difference for animals in need, wherever I am.
