We understand that life changes, emergencies happen, and family dynamics change. Prior to adopting a pet we do ask that you have a plan for your adopted animal in these various scenarios. This is why we ask in our adoption application who will assume ownership of the pet if you are not able to.
Dallas Pets Alive is a foster-based rescue and unfortunately we do not have a facility, shelter, or kennel to house animals. On a case, by case basis we can take animals back into foser care IF we have a foster parent available. We encourage responsible rehoming with our alumni. This includes reaching out within your network to see if a friend or family member is interested in rehoming your pet.
At the first sign of behavior issues that you need help with, or needing to rehome your adopted Dallas Pets Alive, please email alumni@dallaspetsalive.org. We will try to provide support as best as we can with the resources that we have.
If you need medical support, such as low-cost resources please check out the DPA PASS Program.
DPA also has a rehoming program, New Digs, and the pet will be listed on our website and on other sites such as Petfinder and Adopt-a-Pet.
