Going Back to School After a Year at Home: A Photojournalism Article

By Ella Hayes

Nearly a year ago, March 13th, 2020, was many students' last day of school across the nation. Though many had expected the break would only last two weeks, at most, that “extended spring break” stretched on for months and months. Though there have been some times offering a slight glimmer of hope of going back to school, they have often been shut down pretty quickly. However, things seem to be looking up now. With the vaccine now being widespread, GPHS students now have the chance to be able to go back to hybrid learning, as of Thursday, March 4. In February, both elementary schools and middle schools in School District 7 were allowed to return to school and, so far, everything is running smoothly. Though things will be very different than they used to be, many students are thrilled at the prospect of returning to at least somewhat normalcy.

Here, I have taken some images of the high school, currently occupied only by teachers and staff. Soon, however, students will be back in these halls.
