Taiwan's mango season spans from April to October, with peak production in June and July. Production areas are concentrated in Pingtung, Tainan, and Taitung, reaching the market through diverse channels including direct sales from producers, wholesale markets, e-commerce platforms, chain supermarkets, and exports.
To increase production value, the industry adopts diversified marketing strategies: domestically, it focuses on high-quality premium packaging, sliced fruit platters, and bulk corporate purchases; internationally, it actively develops emerging markets. By combining physical and digital sales channels, the industry not only extends the sales cycle but also effectively stabilizes market supply and demand, optimizes farmers' income, and ensures the industry's sustainable development.
In 2026, the direct sales of Taiwanese mangoes from their production areas will be led by Pingtung and Tainan. Fangshan and Fangliao in Pingtung will be the first to hit the market from April to June, renowned for their rich aroma brought by abundant sunshine. Yujing, Nanxi, and Nanhua in Tainan will follow, producing Irwin mangoes with delicate flesh until July. In 2026, over 100 metric tons of contracted mangoes will be exported to South Korea, gaining international recognition for their quality. Consumers can order directly through the Tainan City Government Agriculture Bureau or the websites of various farmers' associations and production and marketing groups in Pingtung County, ensuring direct delivery from the farm to their table. This direct sales model not only ensures export-grade freshness but also guarantees safety through a traceability system, making it the best way to enjoy premium mangoes this summer.
In Taiwan, Tainan and Pingtung are the main distribution centers for mango wholesale, with the Yujing Mango Wholesale Market in Tainan being the most famous, known as the "hometown of mangoes". This market is the largest agricultural product trading center in southern Taiwan, offering a variety of varieties such as Irwin, Golden Emperor, and Yuwen during the harvest season (approximately May to July). Farmers bring whole baskets of mangoes to the market for trading, making it suitable for both bulk purchases and retail.
