Students that are no longer going to be associated with our district, including those that are homeschooling, attending private school, or leaving the district, need to return school-provided devices to the school as soon as possible. You may contact us using the Help Desk to do this as well.
According to health and safety guidelines, devices may not be shared. Therefore, we are assigning a device to each student in our district. Please review this information about the responsibility and care of school-provided Chromebooks.
All students in grades 1-8 (and 9-12) will have a Chromebook assigned to them. The teachers of students in the younger grades will determine whether they’re needed at school and/or should remain at home.
We have ordered protective carrying cases for students in grades 1-8 to help protect the Chromebooks. They are currently being distributed.
There is an expectation that the devices will arrive at school (on the days when the student is in-person) fully charged and ready for the day. We will have limited charging cables available at school.
Please help to care for the device - keeping food and drink away, and store them in a safe place.
Kindergarten students (both hybrid and fully-remote) will each have access to an iPad to use for school-related activities. Families will get more information about that from classroom teachers.
We will:
Streamline the number of platforms and tools that students use
Streamline the number of platforms that are used for communication purposes so that all families know where to go to find out important information
Support students and families with the various platforms that are in use
We continue to use Google Meet for most online meetings. However, for the 2020-2021 school year, there may be some teachers that are helping us pilot Zoom. We have put extra security measures in place for Zoom, including requiring hosts to accept participants into a meeting, and the required use of a password to join a meeting.
We have updated the Guidance for Families Around Online Meetings (Aug. 2020)
Common Sense Media (ratings, reviews, tips, common topics for parents, guides, how-to)
Common Sense Media Plus (access to more resources, for an additional fee)
Common Sense: Wide Open School (free, easy-to-use distance learning hub for families and educators)
Resources for Family Engagement (family activities, media agreements, discussion guides)
