Updates from the Spring 2021 Agency of Education Guidance:
Physical distancing in order to reduce the frequency of close contact between individuals is still one of the most effective ways to slow the spread of the SARS-CoV-2.
The following guidance is provided on who should physically distance, and how and when this should occur:
Adults and adult staff within schools should maintain a distance of 6 feet from other adults as much as possible.
Teachers and staff should maintain a distance of 6 feet from students as much as possible. However, brief periods of closer contact, such as when a student may need one-on-one guidance, clarification, or assistance are expected and permitted. In these cases, staff should stand/kneel/sit side-by-side students (rather than face-to-face) for brief amounts of time.
All students must be spaced a minimum of 3 feet apart to the extent possible.
When eating, maintain a minimum of 3 feet of distance for PreK to Grade 6 students; 6 feet of distance for students in Grade 7 to Grade 12.
Vermont Department of Health Guidelines state that students are safest when seated at least six feet apart. Younger students (PreK through Grade 6) should be spaced at least 3 feet apart. CVSD classrooms will be set up to accommodate this.
Classes or cohorts of students will stay together to include the same group of students each day, and keep the same teachers and staff with the same group each day.
There will not be mixing between groups in Step 2. Some mixing of groups may be allowable under Step 3 guidance though the three to six foot rules must continue to be maintained.
When outside, students will stay in an assigned section of the school yard as opposed to mingling with other classes. Playgrounds may be used when we can ensure that:
Equipment can be sanitized in the morning and cleaned frequently and routinely over the course of each day.
Staff can continue to reinforce physical distancing during playground play.
Hand washing/sanitizing stations are set up on the playground.
We will limit the sharing of materials:
Keeping each student’s belongings separated from others’ and in individually labeled containers, cubbies or areas. Used items should be taken home each day and cleaned.
Ensuring adequate supplies to minimize sharing of high touch materials (art supplies, lab equipment, computer equipment etc. assigned to a single student) or limit use of supplies and equipment by one group of students at a time and clean and disinfect between use.
We will not share electronic devices, toys, books, musical instruments, games or learning aids.
