The Ridgeline HS Jazz Orchestra is our jazz band at RHS. It is open to all interested 9th - 12th grade students, and has a week long placement process to place students in the most appropriate chairs. The Ridgeline Jazz Orchestra will represent the highest level of excellence in our pursuit of the jazz language, which includes the language of swing, the blues and improvisation. Students are focused on developing the use of their musical language to play with the band and to step out and experience improvisation with peer collaborators. Students will pursue the most exciting literature of the traditional and contemporary big band repertoire.

We will share our music at various concerts throughout the year, including two campus concerts, local/regional festivals and competitions, and numerous other outreach opportunities for students to perform. Jazz band is an extension of the fundamentals students craft in their large ensemble (Symphonic Band / Wind Symphony). Members need to be enrolled in a primary band to be eligible for the extra responsibility of a jazz band.
